There are several ways to get to Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull, all of which will include a memorable ferry ride.

By Ferry

The most convenient and direct ferry sails from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. The sailing from Oban takes 45 minutes to Craignure and on the return trip, this ferry connects with trains and buses on the mainland. You must book your car on the ferry in advance and you MUST purchase your ticket before getting on the ferry.
You can also get to Mull from Lochaline and Kilchoan on Morvern and Ardnamurchan. No advance booking is necessary on these sailings. Simply turn up at the port of departure, buy a ticket, and go on the next available sailing.

To Oban By Car

Oban - Glasgow 2.5hrs
Oban - Edinburgh 3hrs 
Oban - Perth 2.5hrs

If you're taking your car on the ferry you must arrive at the ferry terminal in Oban 30 mins before departure time.

To the Castle By Coach

The coach is easy to identify as it is painted with the Duart Castle logo. The ferry journey takes 40 minutes and the coach trip to the castle takes 10-15 minutes.  The coach leaves Craignure when all passengers have disembarked from the ferry.  Please note that the Duart Coach does not run on a Friday or Saturday during April.

To the Castle by Car

Duart is well signposted 1½ miles from Craignure on the road to Iona, turning left at the turning to Kilpatrick. Duart is 1½ miles further at the end of this road.

Driving on the Isle of Mull

Most roads on Mull are single track. Please take care and use the passing places to allow overtaking as well as allowing cars from the opposite direction to pass, use the passing space on the left.
